Since the collapse of Mitch McConnell’s bogus border deal in early February, McConnell-aligned Republican Senators have been lashing out at conservatives.
Not just conservative Senators, mind you. As you know, stalwarts like Mike Lee, Rand Paul, and Ted Cruz endure Establishment attacks every week. But this time, Republican insiders are attacking their own voters!
McConnell blasted grassroots conservatives opposed to the Ukraine aid bill for having “the dimmest and most shortsighted views of our obligations.”
Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) agreed, declaring that “our base cannot possibly know what’s at stake at the level [of a] well-briefed U.S. senator.” He said Senators skeptical of the $96 billion forever-war aid package should “grow a spine.”
Indiana Republican Sen. Todd Young praised the Republicans supporting the Ukraine bill as “the governing coalition” — that is, RINOs teaming up with Joe Biden and the Democrats against Republican voters.
