We’re celebrating Black-led movements for justice and social change this Black History Month, including the history of Black solidarity with Palestinians.

I’m proud to serve in Congress alongside Black progressive leaders who’ve been demanding a ceasefire and speaking up for Palestinians’ rights.

One of my fiercest allies in Congress is Rep. Summer Lee, who overcame millions in attacks from anti-Palestinian group AIPAC in 2022, during her first election to Congress.

Members of the U.S. House of Representatives run for re-election every two years, which means this is her first re-election. And this year, Republican-funded AIPAC is planning to spend $100 MILLION to defeat Summer and other Black progressives from our Squad.

AIPAC even recruited an anti-ceasefire opponent who’s running against Summer in Pennsylvania’s April 23 primary election. With her primary election coming up so soon, Summer needs grassroots fundraising support to once again overcome AIPAC’s attacks.

Summer Lee and I were both community organizers before running for state-level public office and then for Congress.

On both the state and federal level, I’ve created multiple Neighborhood Service Centers to help constituents with everyday needs. In Congress, I’ve been training my colleagues on how to do similar work in their districts.

In her first year of office, Summer has so far opened up 5 satellite offices in her district, in addition to her main office, and has run mobile service centers.

Through this on-the-ground service work, she has supported 1,600 constituents with getting their Social Security benefits, and has helped other constituents with issues like navigating our immigration system.

We need to keep Summer Lee in Congress so she can keep doing this essential work—the work that all members of Congress should be doing.

She is truly rooted in her community, and while prioritizing the needs of her constituents, she also recognizes the importance of equality and freedom for all people across the country and the world.
