This week, I introduced the Detain and Deport Aliens Who Assault Cops, to amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to provide for the detention and deportation of illegal immigrants who assault law enforcement. Illegal immigrants should not be in our country to begin with and there is absolutely zero reason that they should be able to assault any American with no repercussions. My bill requires that federal law enforcement detain these individuals until they are deported from the country.

This week, I spoke during a Judiciary committee markup in support of H.R. 7322, the Standing Up to the Executive Branch for Immigration Enforcement Act. This bill gives state attorneys general standing to bring an action against the DHS Secretary, Secretary of State, or Attorney General for violations of certain immigration laws that harm the State or its residents. 

I responded back to some of my colleagues who try to intentionally misconstrue our efforts to stop illegal immigration as being anti-immigrant. I will never forget that day that my friend was sworn in as a legal American citizen. He was so proud to be a United States citizen and how much he believed in the United States; it was a long and arduous wait to become a citizen, but he knew it was worth it. Legal immigration is what this country believes in. What is currently being done to our country is wrong. To give more money to a process that allows illegal immigrants to just come into the country in huge numbers that we cannot absorb is wrong.

This week, I introduced a bill to eliminate the American Community Survey and provides that no federal funds may be obligated or expended to carry out the Survey or any similar survey. 

This survey has raised privacy concerns because the information being gathered by the federal government is far more invasive than the actual census. If an American does not take this survey, they could face a $5,000 fine for every question, up to $500,000 in total for noncompletion. This survey is just unnecessary and busy work for census workers in between the census taking place. No American should have to worry about being fined up to $500,000 for failing to complete an intrusive survey that the federal government does not need to conduct.

This week, I voted to condemn the rape and sexual violence committed by Hamas in its war against Israel. 

On October 7th, 2023, Hamas infiltrated Israel and brutally attacked and murdered thousands of men, women, and children, taking 240 hostages, including babies and elders. Women were beaten, raped, and paraded around covered in blood. Hamas celebrated and took photos and videos of their horrific crimes. Families were forced to watch videos of their loved ones being brutalized and killed. 

Every single member of Congress must stand on the right side of history. I stand with Israel, and I always will.

This week, I sent a letter to the Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Marcia Fudge, once again calling for a federal takeover of the Atlantic City Housing Authority (the Authority) and requesting that she join me and members of the Atlantic City community to inspect Stanley Holmes Village. 

I sent this latest letter after there were reports that residents of Stanley Holmes Village were being forced out of their homes, displaced to hotels, unable to bring their pets, and do not have access to functional kitchen appliances inside their rooms. The Authority continues to put on full display their utter incompetence in ensuring livable conditions for its residents. I will be joining members of the community to inspect Stanley Holmes Village and requested that Secretary Fudge join us to truly understand the severity of residents' living conditions. This is a simple request and the bare minimum Washington bureaucrats can do while Atlantic City residents have been living in inhumane conditions.
