Last Friday, we held our inaugural statewide Gala in Rosemont. It was a sellout gala with a long waiting list which raised several hundred thousand dollars for the State Party, and promoted Bank Your Vote. This new initiative will increase Republican turnout this Fall by persuading regular Republican voters to vote early, by mail or in-person, thereby freeing up our limited GOTV resources for chasing Republican and swing voters who don’t vote every election.

The event was a huge success thanks to Gala Chair Kari Galassi, Co-Chair Greg Hart, great Gala Committee Chairs: Larisa Calvanese, Mark Hurley, Cathy Hofmann, Christine Trainer, Kate Marnell, Cindy Moncrief, our hardworking Finance Committee, excellent staff work and keynote speakers, US Senator John Kennedy of Louisiana and RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel, and last but certainly not least our sponsors most of whom are listed below. Senator Kennedy skewered Biden and his leftist policies with extremely entertaining one-liners, and RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel enthusiastically explained how Bank Your Vote will increase Republican turnout throughout the nation through early voting and thereby help us win more elections.

In a private conversation with Ronna before the event, she warned that the Democrats, who spent $350 million in the 2022 midterm elections promoting abortion, will again be all in on abortion this election; and, that accordingly, our candidates need to be better prepared to respond to the Democrat abortion lies than they were in 2022. In Ronna’s most recent “Real America'' podcast, she illustrates how Democrats lie about Republican candidates’ positions on abortion, and suggests ways to counter such lies. It is a podcast I think every Republican should listen to.

We examined the voting records of all of the commissioned Republican election judges in the City of Chicago and in suburban Cook County. It is apparent that far too many Republican election judges actually have a history of voting in Democratic primaries. We simply must do a better job of filling our Republican election judge positions with actual Republicans. If we do not fill these positions, the Democrats will. I encourage any Republican who lives in Cook County to take the extra step in participating in the electoral process by becoming an election judge. We need you! Grant Township Lincoln Day Dinner

 

Last Saturday, I had the pleasure of speaking to the Grant Township Republican Lincoln day dinner in Lake County. There were several great Republicans there, including Lake County Chair Keith Brin, who introduced me to the 200 Republicans in attendance and is a very active member of our Chicago Suburban County Chair Roundtable, the Grant Township Republican Club President Marjorie Kubalanza, who is also Vice-Chair of the Lake County Republican Party, Grant Township Republican Committeeman Joe Rada, ILGOP Finance Committee Members Kathy Salvi and Lynn O’Brien, Senators Craig Wilcox and Dan McConchie, State Reps Marty McLaughlin and Tom Weber, Congressional candidates Jim Carris, Susan Hathaway-Altman, and State Rep candidates, Jim Mitchell, Carl Lamprecht and Tosi Ufodike. Tosi is pictured here with me. 
 

My message there, as here, is that although the US Presidential race currently dominates headlines, there are also very important races in Illinois this year, including Tosi’s campaign to flip a Statehouse seat we used to hold, McLaughlin’s campaign for re-election, Mary Cole’s campaign to replace a woke prosecutor as State’s Attorney of Lake County, and so many more important local races. Please do what you can to not just defeat Biden, but to also help win our State and local races here in Illinois.
