Rep. Andy Kim newsletter banner image

Greetings,

We hope you have had a great week and enjoyed celebrating Lunar New Year and Valentine’s Day! A busy week for sure, that we hope was filled with some good times with loved ones for such special occasions.

As always, we hope you find these updates and resources helpful.

Congressman Kim's Statement on the Partisan, Republican Impeachment of Secretary Mayorkas

On Wednesday, Congressman Kim voted against the second impeachment of Secretary Mayorkas led by House Republicans.

Congressman Kim released the following statement against their second and successful impeachment attempt:

"Last night’s purely partisan Republican political stunt to impeach Secretary Mayorkas still has nothing to do with any desire to reform and fix our broken immigration system. This serious problem deserves a serious effort to address the challenges we face at the border, surge resources to our backlogged immigration courts, create pathways to citizenship, address the root causes of migration, meet our nation’s workforce needs, and live up to our values as Americans. This partisan impeachment only further weaponizes this issue and does nothing to come up with real solutions."

Congressman Kim’s Statement on the Murder of Alexei Navalny

This morning, Congressman Kim released the following statement on the murder of Alexei Navalny:

"The murder of Alexei Navalny by Vladimir Putin's regime is a blow to all who have fought to expand the freeing reach of democracy globally, and a reminder of what's at stake in this moment of extreme uncertainty. With a sham election next month, the Russian people will once again be denied a choice, and the world will be left with an emboldened dictator who continues to threaten stability and security. This Congress has failed to do everything we can to stand up to Putin. Ukrainian soldiers fight bravely on the front lines against Putin's illegal invasion without the resources they need to win; we must give them the resources to fight. Pro-democracy activists in and outside of Russia are struggling to give people a voice; we must show that they are not alone.”

Celebrating Black History Month and Honoring a True Trailblazer

What an incredible honor to speak with Dr. Sandra Ortega earlier this week at Willingboro High School. At 21, Dr. Ortega became the first woman officer in the United States Air Force. Congressman Kim had the privilege to learn more from her story, from her perseverance against discrimination, and help celebrate her service to our nation as well as generations who followed in her footsteps.

Valentines for our Veterans!

Every year, we love taking a special opportunity to show veterans our community’s love and appreciation on Valentine’s Day! Thank you to all the community partners and students and teachers from elementary schools around our district for creating so many special and thoughtful messages for local veterans.

Celebrating Lunar New Year

We wish you all happiness and peace in the Year of the Dragon! Congressman Kim enjoyed celebrating Lunar New Year over the weekend and earlier this week with the US-ASIA Institute. Here’s to good fortune and prosperity in the year ahead.
