Happy Valentine's Day... Washington, D.C. - Last Saturday, I held my fifth Youth Advisory Council meeting of the school year, and have one more to go until graduation! Our Congressional Youth Advisory Council is one of our largest student programs with over 70 students participating this year alone. Monday, I visited ShapeUp Dallas to tour their store and discuss government regulations that are making it difficult for their small business to grow. Through my work on the House Committee on Small Business, I'm working to support job creators like ShapeUp. Tuesday, I voted to deliver a strong rebuke of Hamas' use of rape and sexual violence as a weapon of war. These acts are abhorrent and with many hostages still held captive, I'll continue to support Israel as she fights to defend her people and wipe Hamas off the face of the earth. Then, I voted in favor of impeaching Mayorkas for his unlawful actions to open our southern border and destabilize our nation. For months, I have strongly advocated for impeaching Secretary Mayorkas to hold him accountable for the lawlessness and devastation he has inflicted upon America. You can read more about this important vote in the Work of the Week section. On Wednesday, I joined my House Committee on Small Business colleagues for a hearing to investigate how the Environmental Protection Agency is trying to regulate Main Street out of business. Then, I had a great meeting with members from the Texas Association of Community Health Centers. We discussed healthcare funding and the workforce, telehealth services, and drug pricing. I was honored to receive the 2024 Distinguished Community Health Center Advocate Award. Later, I stood with my colleagues to show our support for Texas in our ongoing and existential fight to end Biden's engineered border invasion. Texas is protecting all Americans by exercising our right to defend against the ongoing crisis. To watch my remarks, you can click on the photo below. Thursday, I joined my colleagues on the Committee on Ways and Means to press IRS Commissioner Daniel Werfel about the weaponization of the IRS against hardworking families and the rampant fraud that's cost taxpayers millions of dollars. You can watch my line of questioning by clicking the photo below. Then, I voted for H.R. 7176 which will lift the Biden Administration's ban on exporting liquified natural gas (LNG). This legislation will allow the U.S. to continue to export LNG and encourage domestic production, strengthening our national security in the process. Texas-24 Work of the Week This week, I voted to impeach Secretary Mayorkas for his unlawful actions which have destroyed America’s border security and unleashed chaos on our nation. His impeachment is an important next step in securing our border, returning law and order, and ensuring all Americans are safe. Texas-24 Hometown Hero This week’s Texas-24 Hometown Hero is Danny Huynh, a student at Harmony School of Innovation Euless. Danny is an exceptional student who has dedicated countless hours to bettering his community. Thank you, Danny, for all you’ve done and good luck at the University of Pennsylvania this fall! Rep.
