Fight for $15

John,

An investigation into a Popeyes in Oakland, CA found they hired minors as young as 13 . Can you believe some kids were even called in to work during the school day and pressured to skip classes?

It is a clear violation of California’s child labor laws and just the first of many violations at this location: management routinely scheduled minors to work unlawfully late on weeknights, some scheduled past 11 at night. I was 17 at the time and had enough, so I organized my coworkers and we walked off.

But we know this isn’t just one bad manager or a few locations. It’s because of a system that devalues workers and only seeks to maximize profits, no matter the human cost. Share now to call out their abuse >> [[link removed]]

Corporations are taking advantage of kids who are just trying to make ends meet for their families. Meanwhile, they keep donating to politicians trying to roll back child labor laws. They're breaking the law with one hand, and trying to change the law with the other.

And it's not just Popeyes – McDonald's, Sonic and Chick-fil-A have also been caught using child labor to cut costs. It's outrageous that in 2024, we're still fighting against this – but that's what happens when corporate greed goes unchecked.
