Earlier this week, New York Democrats notched a huge special election victory after voters in New York’s third congressional district voted decisively to send Tom Suozzi to Congress. The MAGA Republican endorsed by Elise Stefanik and disgraced ex-Congressman George Santos — who Suozzi is replacing — was resoundingly defeated.

This team knows better than any how special a special election victory can be ( pun intended! ), so let’s break down what this means for New York:

➡️ Freedom beats fear every time.

Just like Pat, Tom Suozzi ran on a message of freedom. The freedom for women to make their own health care choices. The freedom of living without fear of deadly gun violence. Suozzi’s opponent, Mazi Pilip, ran on a message of fear and bigotry. Voters want freedom, and they want representatives who defend their freedom, not weaponize their fears.

➡️ The path to a Democratic House majority runs right through New York.

National Republicans went all-in to defeat Tom Suozzi. They poured millions of dollars into NY-3. Speaker Mike Johnson’s super PAC even paid for snow plows to ensure the GOP base could get to the polls!

They did this because they know that the path for Democrats to retake the House majority runs right through New York — and this was just a preview of what we can expect to come our way since Pat is one of their top targets.

➡️ Elise Stefanik’s MAGA extremism is toxic.

Trump vice-presidential hopeful Elise Stefanik was first in line to endorse Suozzi’s MAGA Republican opponent, Mazi Pilip.

But voters saw right through Stefanik and Pilip’s anti-choice, extremist agenda — and they rejected it.
