Dear neighbor,
First and foremost, my thoughts are with all those impacted by the horrific shooting at the Super Bowl Parade in Kansas City on Wednesday, which happened to be the six-year anniversary of the Parkland shooting. Our country has been suffering from a gun violence epidemic for far too long. Enough is enough. I continue to stand with my House Democratic colleagues in calling for comprehensive gun safety legislation. We are telling the Republican Speaker to simply let us vote. If gun safety legislation is allowed to be voted on, many common sense bills would pass.
This week, House Republicans once again proved that they are incapable of governing. When Democrats were in control last Congress, we passed laws to move the American family forward such as the Infrastructure Law, the CHIPS and Science Act, and the Inflation Reduction Act. Thanks to these actions, we’ve seen historic job growth, record-breaking stock market highs, increasing wages and consistently low unemployment.
Meanwhile, Republicans are focused on stupid sham impeachment efforts and partisan games. House Republicans don’t actually care about governing responsibly on behalf of American families and it shows. Watch my full remarks from this week’s House Democratic Caucus leadership press conference below.
PLANES, TRAINS AND AUTOMOBILES...AND HIGH-SPEED INTERNET! In the 117th Congress, Democrats passed the historic Infrastructure Law, which is modernizing our nation’s roads, bridges and highways. Since its passage, the Infrastructure Law has delivered over $405 million in federal funding to airports serving families in our community.
Additionally, President Biden’s Investing in America agenda is driving down prescription drug prices, reducing the cost of high-speed internet and providing health care savings to families across the country. To learn more about federal benefits to our community and others, click here.
