John,

For Democrats to win statewide in Texas, we must do better in borderlands communities, including the Rio Grande Valley — four critical counties at the southeast corner of the state. This is where the GOP is spending millions of dollars to convert long-time Democratic voters with promises of jobs and security, and are unfortunately making some gains.

That’s why Ground Game launched a new campaign this week in McAllen, Texas. McAllen is one of the most important cities in the Valley, with nearly 150,000 residents and a lot of Democrats who are voting less than they used to. We need to get them out to vote this November.

Ground Game just launched a ballot measure campaign in McAllen that is designed to increase voter turnout in November. Please contribute $25 or more today to engage voters in this critical region. [[link removed]]

Our new campaign is focused on combating corruption and encouraging local democracy. Our policy would create new campaign finance restrictions, to lower the maximum contribution for city candidates from $10,000 to $500. That way, instead of letting wealthy corporate interests choose the city’s representatives, young organizers and grassroots candidates will have a better chance to win local office.

The issue of corruption is an important issue in the Rio Grande Valley. Our campaign will show how progressive Democrats, like Congressional candidate Michelle Vallejo, support campaign finance reform. Through our ballot measure efforts, we can show that Democrats—not the party of Ken Paxton—are the ones who care about responsible government.

Help us launch this critical campaign today. Every dollar will make a difference in supporting political change in Texas. [[link removed]]

With hope and determination,
