Dear Friend,
Action New Orleans is asking the federal government for $250 billion — and we need your help!
We're requesting flexible, emergency fiscal assistance to be allocated directly to cities by formula as quickly as possible. This will empower the nation’s mayors to get ahead of the pandemic and save lives.
Governor Edwards and Mayor Cantrell have also called on the President to declare COVID-19 a major disaster in order to unlock several FEMA programs, like the Individual Assistance program and D-SNAP, which the President has approved. The disaster declaration included FEMA Public Assistance, which can bolster local government efforts, but Congress must reduce the City’s cost share for the program.
Finally, Congress needs to appropriate the necessary funds for the Community Development Block Grants for Disaster Recovery Program — which will allow all local governments to access flexible and necessary resources and get funds to the people that need it most.
All concerned citizens can contact their congresspeople at the following information below. Ask them to help 1) send $250 billion in recovery funding directly to cities. 2) Fund the Community Development Block Grants for Disaster Recovery Program.
Thank you!
Action New Orleans
