Every year, Rep. McBath writes to her son Jordan for his birthday. With her approval, that letter is being shared with her supporters:

Dear Jordan,

For seventeen years, your birthday was always something we loved to plan. Lighting up your birthday candles was always a warm and festive way to wrap up the holiday season.

I wanted to watch you grow old, Jordan. I wanted to watch you take your next steps as you crossed into adulthood. I wanted to see you chase your dreams, start a family of your own, and bring home stories of all the ways you dreamt of changing the world for the better.

But like so many in this country, your life was cut short by senseless gun violence. Jordan, I now fight to make our world safer for others. So no mother, no parent, has to feel the pain that I feel every day. Your legacy and your memories are why we fight. We will never stop.

Happy birthday, my love. I miss you so much.

Your mom,
Lucy
