A promising future for menstrual health
Menstrual periods often prevent girls from getting an education in low income countries, but a new study presents a hopeful solution: menstrual cups. Nonprofits addressing women's health have avoided them for fear that they were undesirable, uncomfortable and unsafe. New findings suggest menstrual cups are effective, likeable and able to reduce the amount of water needed to manage a period. This could be the beginning of a shift towards a more affordable and sustainable alternative for women and girls around the world.
