| | University presidents have been in the limelight in recent months, more than at any other time in living memory. The additional scrutiny is amply warranted. They occupy powerful positions at their respective institutions. They formulate and communicate a vision for the university. They handle budgetary priorities. They approve hiring requests and promotions. They oversee the creation of new colleges, schools, and centers. They issue statements on behalf of the entire institution. They are the public face of the university. But while the debacle on Capitol Hill on December 5, 2023 heightened public awareness of the inscrutable hegemon we call the Ivy League President, it also revealed how extensively and thoroughly DEI has infected most of our elite institutions, top to bottom. Most now know that something is terribly, terribly rotten in the state of Denmark – and it goes far beyond university presidents. The problem is systemic. | | | NOTABLE QUOTES | Stephen Kruiser contributor to P.J Media: Seriously though, it's valid to wonder if Republicans in Congress (either chamber) ever ponder the long-term consequences of any of their actions. There are far too many petty ego squabbles and media suck-up opportunities to be dealt with every day to worry about things like, say, the survival of the Republic. As long as everyone still has their invitations to the right Beltway happy hours at the end of the day, all is well. Todd Bensman contributor to Middle East Forum: A terrorist plot to smuggle an ISIS assassin team from Iraq across our southern border is wrapping up just in time to remind Americans the worst mass-migration crisis in US history comes with a high price: an elevated national-security threat. The obscure federal prosecution of an Ohio Iraqi, Shihab Ahmed Shihab, for his plan to assassinate former President George W. Bush demonstrates better than anything that violent Islamic extremists have learned the US southern border has a wide-open back door. Olivia Murray contributor to American Thinker: There are countless similarities between Nikki Haley and Hillary Clinton, with the former even crediting the latter as her inspiration for entering the world of politics; both are warmongers, both are extremely unlikeable, both will have a failed presidential campaign under their belts, and both are apparently unteachable regarding the fact that we live in an era of cameras, because they can’t stop from lying and flip-flopping, despite the guarantee that their words are being video-recorded and documented. | | | MORE ARTICLES | The Prickly Pear will provide current, linked articles about Arizona consistent with our Mission Statement to ‘inform, educate and advocate’. This is not a futuristic dystopia. It’s happening now. Government agencies are working with universities and nonprofits to use AI tools to surveil and censor content on the Internet. This is not political or partisan. This is not about any particular opinion or idea. | | Life-threatening’ storm to slam Southern California beginning Sunday, last for days. Sunday’s ‘Pineapple Express’ expected to wallop Southern California. These are some of the headlines that we have been faced with recently regarding what is considered by most people in the world to be a normal part of life, but a strange phenomenon to people in Southern California – weather. We are so accustomed to “75 degrees and sunny” that when we actually must drive in the rain, it is a psychological experience for many. It seems that the press these days has nothing better to do than scare people. | | MUST SEE VIDEOS | | | | | | | ABOUT THE PRICKLY PEAR | The Prickly Pear (ThePricklyPear.org) is focused on delivering timely, fact-based news, and citizen opinion that reflects our mission to “inform, educate and advocate about the principles of limited government and personal liberty.” Please follow us on Twitter @PricklyPear_AZ for all our latest content. | | |
