 CHAIR'S CORNER

Aloha Hawaii Republican Party Members,

As we move forward into the exciting events and initiatives of 2024, I want to extend my gratitude to all of you for your dedication and support to the Hawaii Republican Party. Your commitment to our cause is truly inspiring, and it is because of your efforts that we continue to grow and thrive. I am reaching out to remind you of our upcoming presidential caucus on March 12th. I am grateful for all those who have already volunteered their time and energy to make this event a success. However, we are still in need of additional volunteers, particularly on Oahu, to ensure that our caucus runs smoothly and efficiently. Your participation is crucial to the success of this event, and I urge you to consider volunteering if you have not already done so. Please encourage friends, family members and neighbors to get involved. In addition to the presidential caucus, we have our Kuhio Day dinner approaching in April, and I encourage you to mark your calendars and prepare for this special gathering. Furthermore, our state convention is scheduled for May 4th and 5th at Mililani High School on Oahu. We will be in need of volunteers to assist with various tasks such as vote counting, event set-up, and hosting our guests from the neighbor islands. Your involvement in these events is vital to their success, and I hope that many of you will consider volunteering your time and talents. I want to emphasize the importance of unity and collaboration as we work together to achieve our goals. The success of our party depends on the collective effort of each and every one of us. Let us continue to support one another and work towards a brighter future for our party and our state. I encourage you to regularly visit our website, (here) to sign up as a volunteer for both the caucus and the convention. Your participation will make a significant difference, and I am confident that, together, we can make these events memorable and impactful. Thank you once again for your unwavering support and dedication. Let us move forward with hope and encouragement as we work together to strengthen our party and our communities.

URGENT: Strongly Oppose SB2236

Testimony by Thursday, Feb 15 | 10am,
Hearing: February 16, | 10am

The language of this bill seems reasonable unless you know what is written in the U.S. Constitution under the 4th Amendment, and in the Article 1, Section 7 of the Hawaii State Constitution.

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized. - U.S. Constitution

The summary of SB2236 on the legislative hearing notification page reads as follows:

RELATED TO LAW ENFORCEMENT.
Requires law enforcement to post notice that a warranted or warrantless search has been conducted on a property if a resident was not present at the time of the search.

More disturbing language in the bill below (review the 4th amendment above and compare)

"...When entered, the officer may demand that any other part of the house, or any closet or other closed place in which the officer has reason to believe the property is concealed, may be opened for the officer's inspection, and if refused the officer may break them."

This bill is very unconstitutional. SB2236 and hearkens back to the Writs of Assistance. The founding fathers wrote the 4th amendment because they were subject to W of A that allowed the British to enter and search premises to look for a crime, no warrant, no probable cause, no oath or affirmation. THAT IS A WARRANTLESS SEARCH! (Minority Report anyone)?

Read what the Legal Information Institute about "warrantless" searches. (here)

Election Commission Meeting - Feb 20th | 1:30p.m.

Your Testimony is due by February 16th (here)

On the agenda (here) the Election Commission (E.C.) will be evaluating the Chief Election Officer (C.E.O). The E.C. is supposed to take into account the Public's testimony, per HRS 11-7.5. The E.C. will go into Executive Session to evaluate the C.E.O's job performance. The last time the E.C. did this, they heard 40 testifiers bring evidence of poor job performance of the C.E.O, and "behind closed doors" of the Executive Session, the E.C. reemerged and gave the C.E.O a raise.

Let the Election Commission know how you feel about the C.E.O.'s job performance. Testify today (instructions here) and ask that they discuss the CEO's job performance in full view of the public and not behind the "closed doors" of Executive Session.

In 2018 East Honolulu was hit by a catastrophic flash flood that left the area on either side of Kalaniana’ole Highway ravaged for miles. Adopting the Wailupe Stream, the only natural stream bed in East O’ahu, has provided us with a remarkable opportunity to connect with our neighbors, all of whom remember the devastation vividly.

You can learn a lot about someone when you’re covered in tall grass cuttings under a blazing Hawaiian sun.  Namely that we’re more alike than we are different, and that we can do more by working together.  And that was the whole point.
