John -- Vox published its predictions for 2024 and it included a forecast that Democrats will win back the House Majority.
That is great, exciting news for our movement, but I want to be clear about the challenges ahead of us this year. The House prediction only narrowly favors Democrats winning over Republicans. Vox also says a presidential match-up between Biden and Trump is a coin flip and predicts that Republicans will take back the Senate. Obviously, that’s not as good of news for us.
We have to be realistic about the odds we have to overcome this year, but we can’t get discouraged either. We’re in for a tough election, but we can’t afford to count ourselves out just because it will be difficult. Our work is too important, and the stakes are too high.
Democrats are working to lower costs for families and create good-paying job opportunities. Those are the sorts of changes that will make a real difference in people’s lives for the better. Republicans, by contrast, can barely keep the government open and Trump has promised to be a “dictator on day one.”
We have to keep working at it, John, and wherever there is a will, there is a way.
