Look: I’m the only person in this race who is born, raised, and educated right here in AZ-01. I went to school at Kiva, Mohave, and Saguaro where so many students are still learning today. I’m deeply invested in our community because this is where I grew up and learned the values that still drive me today.

And that’s why seeing how much the public schools in our community are suffering right now is so heartbreaking for me as I’m sure it is for you.

Last week, Eleanor, my elementary school daughter, went to school without a teacher. Twice. The sad fact is that this isn’t the first time this has happened, and if we don't do something it won’t be the last. We continue to face major teacher shortages across our state and country, and not enough is being done to fix it.

One of my top priorities in my campaign for Congress is to be an advocate for our schools, something my opponent, Rep. Shweikert, can’t say.
