John –

Staying safe in Ukraine this winter isn’t only a matter of surviving bombings. It also means staying warm when temperatures plummet well below freezing. The damage to homes and critical infrastructure like power plants is putting families at greater risk in the bitter cold.

This is a dangerous winter in Ukraine, and the IRC is working fast to reach more people with warm blankets, heaters, fuel and financial assistance.

We've set a $100,000 fundraising goal for this month, to urgently rush critical support where it's needed most right now. Please, help children and families in Ukraine and other crisis zones survive the winter by making an emergency gift today. >>

HELP CHILDREN & FAMILIES THIS WINTER »

Your gift can help people in Ukraine who have been displaced by the war, like Olena and her family, who have lived in Kherson since the war began. Her four children are growing up hearing the sounds of shelling every day.

Their house flooded in June. Harsh conditions and lack of supplies made it impossible to dry out. So the family has been living with one of their neighbors. That’s the kind of solidarity, kindness, and generosity that has held communities in Ukraine together through extreme hardship. But without sufficient heat, both families were struggling.

The IRC provided a gas stove to help them keep warm (see the photo below). Olena's hope is that with the gas stove they have received, they can dry out their house from the flooding, and warm their neighbor's home as well. With weeks of freezing temperatures still expected in Ukraine this winter, that warmth will help keep Olena's children safe.

It's what any parent wants: the ability to keep your child warm and have a safe place for them to lay their heads at night. But conflict and disaster have robbed families in Ukraine and around the world of those basics of life.

We're working nonstop to provide essential winter supplies to families and children, but the food, medicine, blankets, heaters and fuel we're able to provide depend on our resources. They depend on you, John.

Help reach our $100,000 goal before the deadline and make sure that when a parent like Olena needs someone to turn to, we can be there.
