Friend,

Well, we weren’t supposed to do it. The polls were doubting us, the networks were calling Suozzi a has-been, and most of the public thought MAGA had New York’s third district all locked up. Well, in the words of the orange messiah, WRONG.

The pro-democracy coalition took back the district this week and picked up another seat on the GOP’s already minuscule majority in the House. At The Lincoln Project, we weren’t surprised by this. What the media won’t tell you is that right now, this all boils down to two issues: MAGA's assault on women’s rights and MAGA’s sheer incompetence at actually doing anything in government. That means the immigration failure was a HUGE deal.

What isn’t salient? What a President’s approval rating might or might not be ten months out. Suozzi won by roughly the same margin that *checks notes* Joe Biden won by in 2020. Yet there was a headline this week that read “Democrats’ Joe Biden Problem Got Worse With Special Election Win.”

Seriously. Voters just repudiated MAGA “bigly.” They made it very clear that MAGA is on the wrong side of the things they care about. And that’s the story to take away for the week. It’s how we’re going to win in November.

The narrative is clear: MAGA's digging deeper and it's hurting them. Help us make them feel the pain>>

This election is another data point that shows the current strength of Democrats. Don’t fall for anyone saying differently. We have a lot more work to do. But at some point you have to connect the dots and realize reality is saying something, and MAGA and even the media are not listening.

Need any more proof? Remember the red wave?

We don’t, either.
