We had this email written and ready to go before yesterday’s tragic shooting in Kansas City. After we saw the news, we wondered whether we should still go ahead – or delay sending this. We decided that “delay” is the last thing we can do when it comes to gun violence.

After every heart-rending incident of gun violence, Republicans offer their thoughts and prayers – and say it's “too soon” after the tragedy to talk about gun safety laws. We all know that’s just a code word for “never.”

We live in a country where the vast majority of Americans want gun safety legislation, and yet there were more mass shootings than days in 2023.

We need to elect Democrats who don’t just say the right words at election time, but have a track record of fighting against gun violence and making real progress.

The Brady PAC is America’s oldest gun safety group. And as they looked at all the folks running for Congress in all of America, there were only four that rose to the top for their stamp of approval. It’s no surprise that Andrei was one of them.

Andrei grew up in an apartment building where gun violence and shootings were all too common.

He’s worked for decades to protect and reinstate the assault weapons ban – even when others who claim to be for gun safety were helping to elect Republicans that killed the ban.

As Chair of the Arizona Democratic Party, in the wake of the shooting of Gabby Giffords and others in Tucson, he stood up to Jan Brewer’s expansion of guns in schools and guns in bars.

And as a businessperson, he stood with CEOs for Gun Safety and built a company to help Americans stop Wall Street banks from using their money to fund firearm manufacturers and the NRA. The pro-gun groups came after him personally – but he stood his ground.
