Monday night, I made my case on the debate stage for why I have the track
record and experience to take on the tough fights that California’s next
U.S. Senator needs to win.

That was in stark contrast to the leading Republican, Steve Garvey.

He lamented California’s homelessness crisis but said the federal minimum
wage of $7.25 per hour is fine right where it is.

He refused to say whether he would vote for Donald Trump a third time or
accept his endorsement but called my advocacy to reform the Supreme Court
and abolish the filibuster “the single greatest threat to Democracy.”

No, Mr. Garvey. The single greatest threat to our democracy is the
twice-impeached, four-times-indicted former President who incited an
insurrection to stop the peaceful transfer of power.

Garvey’s attempts to smear me are pretty rich.

As Chair of the House Intelligence Committee, I investigated and impeached
Donald Trump for his abuse of office. I served as lead manager of his
Senate trial and served on the January 6 Committee after the insurrection
he incited.

Speaker Pelosi trusted me with these responsibilities because she needed
someone who would deliver results. That’s what I did — our impeachment
prosecution produced the first bipartisan vote to convict a sitting
president, and the January 6 Committee laid out much of the evidence that
has proven central to Special Counsel Jack Smith’s indictment of Trump.

Not to mention the legislation and funding I’ve delivered to make life
better for Californians. I’ve delivered for our state before, and I will
continue to do so as a U.S. Senator.

You can’t walk down the halls of Congress without tripping over five
people who say they’re going to shake up Washington, but they don’t end up
getting anything actually accomplished. I’ve delivered.
