I’m writing to ask you

to join ADL, The Baltimore Jewish Council, and The JCRC of Greater Washington in urging the Maryland House of Delegates to change the makeup of the Attorney General's Commission on Hate Crime Response and Prevention,

HB763 .

This Commission is tasked with developing strategies to prevent and respond to hate crime activity and evaluating state laws and policies relating to hate crimes. In response to the horrific attack by Hamas on the State of Israel on October 7th, CAIR National, CAIR Maryland, and the CAIR Maryland representative on the Commission have relentlessly posted false, extremely antisemitic narratives across social media, including denying the deaths of children on October 7th; claiming that Israel is harvesting Palestinian organs; and stating that those who work for/support the ADL and JCRCs are complicit in genocide.

HB763 would remove CAIR Maryland as an entity on the Hate Crimes Commission but does NOT remove Muslim representation. In fact,

the bill would ensure that two representatives from the Muslim community are part of the Commission, which is particularly important at a time when anti-Muslim bias is also on the rise.

Hate has no place in Maryland. Please
