UPDATE: it’s an all-hands-on-deck moment to get the Senate to pass the Child Tax Credit expansion.

This rare bipartisan bill would be a monumental step towards reducing child poverty, and could lift as many as 400,000 children above the poverty line!

The Senate just went on recess, and champions of the Child Tax Credit expansion in the Senate are pushing hard for this bill to be the first thing they tackle when they’re back.

John: can you tell your senators to urge Senate Leader Charles Schumer to bring the bill to the floor for a vote when the Senate returns from recess?

Domestic workers are so often the primary income earners in their families with an average wage of just $13 or $14 an hour. But, that can be too *low* to qualify for the child tax credit.

Right now, the Child Tax Credit provides higher benefits to families earning $400,000 per year than to families earning $15,000. It’s like being punished for being poor!

It’s an exclusion that’s resulting in roughly 16 million children, including 3 million under the age of three, missing out on the full benefits of the credit because their family income is too *low* — but if this new bill passes, that exclusion goes away.

Contact your Senators ASAP and urge them to push Senate Majority Leader Chuck to bring the bill to the floor for a vote when the Senate returns from recess! --> [[link removed]]
