Dear CV Friend,
“Never let a serious crisis go to waste.”
Those are the notorious words used by Obama aide Rahm Emmanuel...
Now Nancy Pelosi is
trying to exploit the current crisis.
Beginning late last week, Republicans and Democrats began negotiating a massive relief bill designed to rush
money to hospitals, small businesses, and industries teetering on bankruptcy, while providing an economic boost to millions of Americans stuck in
their homes -- as well as those now or soon to be unemployed.
But Nancy Pelosi decided to play politics instead.
And guess what issue
she tried to sneak into the bill?
Just as a bipartisan Senate group was nearing an agreement, Pelosi upended the plan and decided to impose her own
liberal wishlist priorities, including provisions of the Green New Deal, millions for the arts, a bailout of the Post Office, diversity initiatives,
and...
You guessed it: taxpayer funding for abortion! Regrettably, some concessions had to be made. In the bill now advancing, the
Kennedy Center for the Arts will receive $25 million, and $75 million will go to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (sponsors of PBS and NPR) --
a shameless slush payment given at a time when the Seattle NPR radio affiliate refuses even to broadcast press conferences by the President of the
United States!
Thankfully, pro-life senators like Steve Daines of Montana and Josh Hawley of Missouri (among many
others) held their ground, and refused Pelosi’s vile pro-abortion brinkmanship. And the final bill (as of now) doesn’t include funding for
abortion.
THINK ABOUT THIS: Millions of Americans are confined to their homes. Their jobs are in peril or already lost, while
everyone is worried they might contract the coronavirus at any moment. And Nancy Pelosi and her Democrat colleagues are trying to fund abortion.
It boggles my mind. But it’s true.
As I write this, negotiations continue, and many concerns remain--including a possibility
that the new boost in unemployment benefits might actually encourage people to get laid off. Now Bernie Sanders is threatening to put a hold on the
whole bill if these Republicans don’t drop their opposition to the increased benefits.
We’ll have a full report for you as soon as the
final bill is approved.
Many of our CV members need help. And soon.
Congress needs to stop playing politics and get this bill passed now!
