Friends,

Several key updates lead me to email today to highlight how we are responding.

First, the County Board met yesterday and I want to share 12 minutes of our update on COVID 19 response. Click on the image below to see that video:

Second, many of you have asked if Arlington County is engaging on Federal legislation that will help individuals here and our community as a whole. We are. Both via consultation between Chair Garvey and Congressman Don Beyer ([link removed]) and all of us and by tracking the legislation. There is initial agreement, but not yet full text today.

The details will of course be key for each of us and for Arlington as a whole. As we consider it and how it impacts Arlington, we will value every person in our community and consider those most in need. Doing both will be necessary. For the details, see below at the bottom of this email.

Third, the Governor's Press Conference today and an executive order provided helpful information. For the executive order, click above. For his press conference on Personal Protective Equipment (PPE's) and hospital beds click below. The Commonwealth is working on these two key issues, as is your County government.

Concluding Thoughts---Below ()
Finally, 3 Metro stations in Arlington will close for safety: [link removed] This is a regrettable step, but safety is paramount, so the step is understandable if not ideal.

Please let me know if you have questions concerns. And please, please stay vigilant about social distancing. New York is on a trajectory that we so wish to avoid for them, all communities and for Arlington. We are the ones who can help avoid that trajectory.

Yours,

Matt
