Yesterday Governor Stitt issued a statewide order called “Safer at Home.” This order sets forward an aggressive plan to protect lives and public health while also seeking to curb the spread of COVID-19 earlier so that we can get our State’s economy back up and running.
“Safer at Home” takes the following actions:
- Orders adults over age 65 and vulnerable individuals with underlying medical conditions to stay at home until April 30
- Limits gatherings to no more than 10 people,
- Postpones elective surgeries and medical procedures to free up medical supplies
- Prohibits visitors to nursing home and long-term care facilities
In counties with community spread, Governor Stitt’s order takes additional measures by requiring restaurants to ONLY provide take-out and delivery options and closes all businesses not identified as being within a critical infrastructure sector, such as gyms, salons, massage parlors and movie theatres through April 30.
Federal guidance on the essential critical infrastructure workforce can be found here: www.cisa.gov/publication/guidance-essential-critical-infrastructure-workforce. Businesses can also apply to be considered "essential" at criticalworker.ok.gov.
Grocery stores, gas stations, and pharmacies will continue to be open and stocked. Social distancing is strongly encouraged at these locations.

“We remain committed to making decisions based on reliable data, emerging science and the advice of experts from my Governor’s Solution Task Force, the State Department of Health and the CDC on how to best slow the spread of COVID-19,” Governor Kevin Stitt said in a press conference on Tuesday. “These new action items will allow us to ensure we remain proactive in our response to this on-going crisis.”
