[link removed] [[link removed]] John,

The last few months have been some of the busiest in CREW’s history, thanks to our momentous 14th Amendment case against Donald Trump that we’ve fought all the way to the Supreme Court. But here’s the thing: We’ve never lost sight of Trump’s challenges to our democracy outside of those courtrooms, and we’ve never paused our other work fighting for reform.

Enforcing the 14th Amendment is far from the only way to hold Trump accountable. We’re tracking his 91 criminal indictments and where they stand [[link removed]] , which are signs of a healthy democracy that is ensuring he doesn’t escape the consequences for his criminal conduct. Despite Trump spending years saying former presidents should be tried for treason and imprisoned [[link removed]] , his team just made—and lost—their argument that he should be immune from prosecution in federal court.

Trump is trying desperately to skirt accountability for January 6th, and he’s getting all sorts of help from the far right. Election deniers and talking heads have spent three years now trying to rewrite the insurrection—and it’s not working [[link removed]] . Their lies are dangerous and concerning, but most Americans aren’t buying it, and courts, including in our own 14th Amendment case, have reaffirmed that January 6th was an insurrection.

When we checked back in with Trump’s grift, we found that Republicans in Congress went out of their way to stay at Trump’s DC hotel [[link removed]] until he sold it in 2022. If Republicans really went there out of convenience like they claimed, why has GOP spending at the largely unchanged hotel all but disappeared now that it’s a Waldorf Astoria?

The news has been keeping up with our other work around Trump, too. Business Insider cited us when it found Trump paid more than $2.3 million in donor money to law firms helping Ivanka Trump with her legal problems last year [[link removed]] . Truthout pointed to our investigation after reports of Trump planning to expand the DOJ’s presidential immunity memo if elected [[link removed]] . The Daily Beast spoke to us about Trump’s claims that he personally owed tens of millions to an obscure entity related to his Chicago tower—a loan which now appears to have never existed [[link removed]] .

We may be spearheading one of the most important Supreme Court cases of our lifetime, but otherwise, we’re proud to say it’s business as usual. No matter what the future holds, CREW will not stop fighting for accountability and reform —especially when it involves powerful people intent on corrupting our democracy.
