As followers of Jesus Christ, we are called to love our neighbors as ourselves. Through the ministry of The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR)—the humanitarian relief and development arm of The United Methodist Church—we are able to work alongside our neighbors in need to make a difference in communities and individuals whose lives have been upset by storms, wars, fires, displacement and climate change.
By working with local organizations, churches in the community and United Methodist volunteers, UMCOR builds relationships and helps communities rebuild in the years following a disaster or crisis. UMCOR offers relief, response and long-term recovery grants when events overwhelm a community’s ability to recover on their own. UMCOR also provides technical support and training for partners to address emerging and ongoing issues related to disaster relief, recovery and long-term health and development.
UMCOR would be unable to do this work without your support. From training Conference Disaster Coordinators and Early Response Teams to keeping the office lights on, the UMCOR special offering equips the organization to embody Christ and be God’s light for our neighbors worldwide.
On March 10, we invite you to join United Methodists around the world to celebrate UMCOR Sunday and to recognize the impact we achieve together. Your donation on this Special Sunday covers UMCOR’s operational costs so 100% of donations received in response to emergency appeals goes to communities in need.
The United Methodist Church’s special giving structure ensures your generosity blesses as many people as possible in sustainable, strategic ways. Even the smallest gift makes an impact!
