ICYMI: Erin Murphy to Serve as Next Senate Majority Leader
Sen. Erin Murphy was elected as Minnesota’s next Senate majority leader during a closed-door meeting with her Democratic colleagues. During a 90-second news conference on Tuesday, she took no questions from the media. Murphy said the Senate DFL caucus had “a good discussion” during their Tuesday annual retreat — where the lawmakers normally discuss their legislative priorities — and she’s honored to serve as the next Senate majority leader. “We are committed — together, 34 members — to make sure that we are working to improve the lives of Minnesotans,” Murphy said.

Constitutional Amendment on Equal Rights, Abortion Protection Likely Won’t be on 2024 Minnesota Ballot |
A ballot measure that would place an equal rights amendment and abortion protections in the state constitution will have to wait until 2026, according to the Minnesota Legislature’s most-powerful member. House Speaker Melissa Hortman said Wednesday she thinks the Legislature will vote this session to place the issue on the ballot for voters to pass judgment on. But that public vote will wait until 2026 rather than appear on this fall’s general election ballot. |
File for Minnesota’s Nation Leading Child Tax Credit! |
Women Winning is proud to have endorsed many of the incredible State Legislators that have worked tirelessly on issues of reproductive and economic justice for families at the Capitol, including the implementation of Minnesota’s nation leading new Child Tax Credit! Minnesota families can save up to $1,750 for each dependent by filing a 2023 income tax return. The $1,750 credit is for each child 17 years old and younger. For all tax filers, this credit begins to phase out at an income level of $35,000 and fully phases out at a maximum of $90,750 for a family with four children.
