Hello John,

I'm sending you on the latest communication from the Department of Children and Youth Affairs (DCYA) confirming funding for the duration and addressing a number of other important matters.

Read the complete DCYA Covid Communication (25 March) here.

This communication from DCYA  acknowledges all of the staff, management and volunteers in youth services across Ireland for the amazing work they have done up to this point and that youth work is an essential service for many young people, particularly those that are vulnerable and particularly in these challenging, anxious and uncertain times.

The Department  again reassures voluntary youth organisations of its intention to continue funding services as normal throughout this crisis period. In offering this reassurance, it acknowledges that services cannot 'continue as normal' and welcomes the efforts that services are making to innovate by providing supports and managing day to day activities in new ways.

It also provides updates on:

  • Youth Work Service Continuity
  • Information sharing (including around education issues, training, work and financial uncertainty)
  • Supporting the most vulnerable
  • Youth work as part of the societal response to the pandemic.

I'd urge you to read the communication, and if you have any questions or feedback, let me know.

Stay safe and stay well.

Kind regards,

Mary
