Dear Friend,

The accident was so terrible - the damage so gruesome - I
cannot send you a photo of the injury. A little boy was riding a
horse when they were struck by a car. The boy was rushed to a
hospital... but the horse urgently needed care too. He came to us.

Your support opened our doors to this devastated animal. Through your
generous giving to the American Fondouk, you saved him.

But Malik is only one animal among many others who will need care in
the days ahead. For their sake, I warmly invite you to give
generously today.

The collision had ripped open the horse's thigh. It was clear
Malik was in terrible pain. This once-proud stallion couldn't
bear to put any weight on the damaged leg.

Our team quickly sedated the animal, then cleaned the wound. The
muscles had been lacerated, with bits of shattered bone driven into
the tissue. We cleaned the area, carefully removing the broken pieces
of bone, and put the thigh back together.

There were ups and downs in the healing process. Malik essentially
had to learn to walk again, through our physical therapy program
(another gift from you!).

Meanwhile, we were amazed to see how quickly the wound shrank. It
seemed this fine working animal - now past the initial crisis
- was eager to get back on the job... willing himself to get
healthy! You saved the animal - and also the family who depend
on him for their livelihood! (The little boy is fine, by the way.)

Malik is just one of thousands of animals we treat every year. Please
make a gift now, because saving a life like Malik's means
EVERYTHING to animal lovers like you and me!
