After Rep. George Santos was expelled from Congress by a bipartisan vote of 311-114, we have been long awaiting the results of NY special election. Finally, the results are in, and the House has gained one more democrat: Tom Suozzi!

The Republican's slim house majority has never looked more shaky. What's more – Suozzi won back the seat with an 8-point lead, and looks well on his way to securing the seat once more in November. 

Just as a reminder of Santos's notoriety, let's recap the chaos which preceded Santos' departure. The 56-page House Ethics Committee report detailed Santos' alleged exploitation of his House campaign for personal financial gain, including using campaign funds for personal debt payments, luxury store purchases, and expenses on platforms like OnlyFans. 

Here is a full list of his charges:

• 1 count of conspiracy to commit offenses against the United States
• 2 counts of aggravated identity theft
• 1 count of theft of public funds
• 7 counts of wire fraud
• 2 counts of making materially false statements to the Federal Election Commission
• 2 counts of falsifying records submitted to obstruct the FEC
• 3 counts of money laundering
• 2 counts of making materially false statements to the United States House of Representatives
