Friends –
Today marks six years since the tragic shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. On that day, 14 students and three staff members lost their lives due to senseless gun violence. Parents lost children, brothers and sisters lost siblings, and a community was shattered.

My heart still breaks for the friends and family members of the victims. As a parent, there is no greater fear than sending your children to school and having them not come home safely. I can’t imagine what those families have gone through.
Touring the site last November was a powerful and moving experience I'll never forget. I'm glad to have colleagues like Representative Jared Moskowitz and Democratic Whip Katherine Clark to help turn grief and anger into meaningful action. But I’ll be honest, John, our country has not made enough progress on this issue since 2018. There hasn’t been comprehensive, common-sense gun reform enacted, and mass shootings are still all too common.
I want my kids to grow up in a safer world, and I will continue advocating for common-sense gun reform. I will support candidates who are committed to ending the gun violence epidemic, and I won’t stop until real progress is made.
Thank you,
Wiley
