John, Donald Trump just attacked me directly and accused California of voter fraud in our U.S. Senate race. With Californians voting right now, there is NO WAY we can allow Trump’s election disinformation to influence the outcome of this election in the final days of this primary.
After calling me a “slimeball,” “low life,” “shifty,” and more, he then tried to cast doubt on California’s primary election if I win, in an ALL CAPS social media rant. With none more damaging than this: “SADLY, BETWEEN RANK ‘NO CHOICE’ VOTING, AND ‘UNLIMITED’ NUMBERS OF MAIL-IN BALLOTS POURING INTO PLACES UNKNOWN, TO PEOPLE THAT SOMETIMES RECEIVE MANY BALLOTS TO FILL OUT AND SEND BACK AT WILL, CALIFORNIANS ARE ‘SCREWED!’” Here are the facts: California’s mail-in ballots are not “unlimited” — they are limited to one for every registered California voter. Every ballot has a known destination — its assigned voter’s address on their voter registration. Every registered voter can only vote once (but on every ballot this year, the California U.S. Senate seat appears TWICE). Every ballot must be postmarked by Election Day. And Trump is just spewing lies about there being ranked-choice voting. But John, Trump’s allies in the far-right media aren’t going to share the facts. They’re going to share his words across the right-wing ecosystem. His MAGA followers will spread his lies far and wide, reaching huge swathes of California’s 22 million registered voters. Their online obscenities and attacks against me, as well as written and verbal threats to our offices, will increase exponentially. And like the disinformation he sowed that led to the Capitol insurrection, Trump will attempt to create a new reality for millions of California voters — and if I win, paint my election as illegitimate.

There are 20 days left in this election, and it’s going to take a surge in grassroots support to ensure we have the resources to respond to these lies and reach undecided voters. Thanks for anything you can spare in support. — Adam
