Dear Friends and Constituents,
Yesterday was crossover here in the General Assembly, the date by which all bills originating in the Senate or House must be passed by their respective body. The past week has been very busy, but I am excited to report that the majority of my bills have passed the Senate.
Legislative Breakdown:
This session I introduced 21 bills. Here's the breakdown of how they ended up:
- 14 bills passed the Senate
- 2 more bills were rolled into other bills that passed the Senate
- 5 bills were continued for further discussion in 2025.
Some highlights of my bills that passed include:
- SB55 (Rolled into SB273) - Adds a 5 day waiting period to gun purchases
- SB57 - Bans Concealed Firearms in Bars
- SB304 - Allows ADUs to be Built Across Virginia
- SB306 - Requires Signage Identifying Invasive Plants being Sold at Stores
- SB316 - Town of Vienna Tree Canopy Bill
- SB319 (Rolled into SB642) Closes the "Boyfriend Loophole"
- SB327 - Raises the Age to buy an Assault Weapon to 21 Years Old
- SB338 - Studies the Effects of Gun Violence on Our Communities
- SB649 - Increases Payments for the Line of Duty Act

Other Priorities:
Yesterday, the Senate also passed many priority bills of our Democratic Caucus. Some of these include:
- SB1, raises the minimum wage
- SB2, bans the sale of assault weapons in Virginia
- SB101, protects marriage equality
- SB373, provides paid family medical leave.
- SB274, establishes a Virginia Prescription Drug Affordability Board
I was proud to co-patron each and every one of these bills.
