Last week, a panel of appeals judges ruled unanimously that Donald Trump does
not have immunity from prosecution for criminal charges stemming from his
attempts to remain in power despite losing the 2020 election.

That panel, by the way, includes judges appointed by both Democratic and
Republican presidents.

Earlier this week, Trump’s lawyers filed a motion asking the Supreme Court to
put the trial on hold while he slow-walks further appeals.

Keep in mind that when Trump was making his case at the appeals court, his
lawyers stated — with a straight face — that the former president would be
immune from criminal prosecution even if he ordered the military to assassinate
a political rival.

Donald Trump’s claim of immunity is contrary to law, morality, and plain old
common sense. The case against Trump should go forward without further delay.
