PNW FRACKED GAS Forum: LNG-by-rail
Clean and renewable energy is becoming more accessible than ever, but fossil fuel companies are finding new ways to ship dangerous fracked gas through our community.
The Trump Administration recently proposed to allow unit trains up to 100-cars carrying liquified natural gas (LNG). LNG-by-rail would mean dangerous train cars transporting a highly flammable fossil fuel product through populated areas.
Submit a comment to stop LNG-by-rail by August 7th to the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) to urge them consider the full risks to human health and safety posed by trains carrying LNG.
Support for Puyallup
Dakota Case, a Puyallup Water Warrior, began a fast and four day prayer ceremony today in the shadow of Puget Sound Energy's proposed fracked gas refinery and storage project known as the Tacoma LNG.
Currently, this project is already mid-way through construction; a violation of the Medicine Creek Treaty. The Puyallup Tribe oppose this project, have never been properly consulted by any of the permitting agencies, and would bear the heaviest health and safety burden of living near a refinery.
This project would also disproportionately impact the health and safety of the over 1500 immigrants housed daily at the Northwest Detention Center; a for-profit immigrant prison located less than two miles away.
As global scientists are warning us that remaining fossil fuels must be kept in the ground to avoid climate chaos, continuing to build new fracked gas infrastructure is an assault on our children and future generations.
Your prayers are needed to help keep this harmful project from becoming operational.
Water Warriors are asking people to join them in prayer for the next four days and beyond. Please form a prayer circle and/or mention them during your next faith gathering if you can. We hope to have these prayers spread all around the Salish Sea, the country, and the world.
To help spread the prayer: Please take a moment to post a photo or short video of your support on social media. We are using the following hashtags: #HonorOurLifeGivers, #NoLNG253. Find us at NoLNG253 on Facebook
