Dear friends and neighbors,
The beginning of the year is a time for reflection on what an exciting time it has been for Seattle as well as the road ahead. The past two years have been marked by a new spirit of collaborative to unite around our common goals to make real, sustainable progress to change the direction of our city.
In 2023, we witnessed significant strides towards a brighter future for Seattle. My office put together a summary report that details our efforts to help people in need get indoors with access to supportive services; launch new innovative approaches to diversify our emergency response options; foster an equitable economic recovery that uplifts small businesses and entrepreneurs; and build a sustainable, climate-forward future for our city by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
The groundwork has been laid over the past two years ? now, it is time to showcase our results, amplify our efforts, and work even harder to make real our vision for a better city.
As we delve into 2024, we?re already starting the year off strong with projects and initiatives that will increase affordable housing opportunities, strengthen our public safety network, and make streets safer for pedestrians.
I look forward to collaborating with the new City Councilmembers to advance our shared goals. Together, let?s make 2024 a year of measurable achievements and continued progress to build a safe, equitable, and thriving One Seattle.
