Indianapolis Capital Zone

The Indianapolis Capital Zone Plan is Eric’s bold mission to restore Indianapolis - from fixing damaged roads and infrastructure to giving IMPD the tools and resources they need to fight crime in the city.
* Currently, law enforcement officers are undermined by local politicians and limited by policies that make it more difficult for them to safely do their jobs. Our plan will help law enforcement officers do their jobs to the best of their ability.

Our goal is to build a safe and accessible capital city that will increase public confidence in its viability, attracting more visitors, residents, and employers.
* A positive perception of Indianapolis will build and ensure that our capital city also remains a major economic engine for the next generation of Hoosiers.

White Paper ([link removed]) : The Capital Zone Plan

Problem: Indianapolis is uniquely positioned as both Indiana’s capital city and as the state’s economic engine. Marion County is responsible for 25% ($81.2 billion) of Indiana’s entire annual Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and ranks 1st of 92 counties.
* Indianapolis is struggling to keep up with two basic functions of local government - public safety and infrastructure.

* Nationally, law enforcement officers feel undermined by public officials and policy ideas that would make it more difficult for them to do their jobs.

Solution: The Doden Administration will implement the Capital Zone Plan by establishing the following:
* An infrastructure Capital Zone encompassing the Mile Square in downtown Indianapolis.

* Enhanced policing across Indianapolis through a partnership between the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) and the Indiana State Police (ISP).

* Support for our law enforcement officers and new prosecutorial tools aimed at removing violent criminals from the streets of Indianapolis.
