Restaurants and bars across the country are shutting their doors to help
prevent the spread of COVID-19 and it’s hurting workers in all of our
communities.

That’s why I — along with my sisters in service Alexandria, Ilhan, and
Rashida — am raising funds for emergency relief for our country’s
restaurant workers. We’ve all worked in the service industry and want to
do everything we can to help those in need in the midst of this public
health and economic crisis.

Every single dollar you contribute will go directly toward helping to
provide emergency financial assistance to restaurant workers who have lost
their livelihood due to the COVID-19.

Restaurant Workers’ Disaster Relief Fund to help a restaurant worker who
is in need right now?

From my own experience working in the service industry, I know what it’s
like to live paycheck to paycheck, and I understand the impossible
decisions facing families when that income disappears.

The Restaurant Opportunities Center (ROC) is a non-profit organization
that focuses on fighting for economic justice for our country’s restaurant
workers. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic and the devastating impact it’s
having on our economy, ROC has launched a goal of raising $500,000 for
workers who are in need of emergency financial assistance.

While I am continuing to work in Congress for comprehensive worker
protections including paid sick leave, universal health care, and student
loan cancellation, there are millions of restaurant workers who are in
urgent need of immediate financial assistance.

[ [link removed] ]If you are in a position to spare even a few dollars to help a
restaurant worker in need during these difficult and uncertain times, then
please add your contribution to the Restaurant Workers’ Disaster Relief
Fund here.

Thank you for your solidarity,

Ayanna Pressley
