Hi friend,

Presidential, congressional, and gubernatorial elections get all the love and all the attention. But state legislative races can be just as important as — if not more important than — federal races in the fight for climate justice.

While Congress could barely elect a Speaker last year, California passed SB 253, a groundbreaking climate disclosure law that other countries are already looking to replicate. That bill passed in large part because of the new climate champions in the legislature we helped to elect in 2022.

So this Valentine’s Day, join us in throwing some love to these proven climate champions so we can pass even more climate bills in the California legislature.

That’s right, friend — a Yes vote from an Assemblymember in a district hundreds of miles away from you helped California create the foundation for corporate accountability worldwide.

To implement climate action in a just, equitable way, solutions must be introduced at all levels of government. But just electing Democrats to the state legislature isn’t enough; in fact, California already has a Democratic supermajority.

We need to elect environmental champions who are committed to advancing climate justice and equity in their capacity as elected officials.

Previous incarnations of SB 253 failed in 2021 and 2022. But that all changed with the November 2022 election, when 69% of our priority slate of legislative candidates triumphed.

State legislative races matter, friend; Plus, your donation goes a longer way in these smaller races than for congressional campaigns, which raise millions upon millions.

Please split a donation between our priority slate of legislative candidates — or pick your own mix of climate champions to support!
