John —
Six years ago, a gunman took the lives of 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.
In the years since, we’ve seen these young survivors turn into advocates and work to prevent further tragedy. Some have devoted their adult lives to this fight.
Yet, the violence continues. Too many far-right politicians continue to choose allegiance to the gun lobby over our young people’s safety. My opponent Mark Robinson even went so far as to call survivors of the Parkland shooting “spoiled little b*stards” and said one survivor was a “crisis actor.”
John, even though the legislature is failing to do its job of protecting the people of North Carolina, I’ll keep doing mine. I’ll do everything in my power as your Attorney General and your next Governor to keep guns out of the hands of dangerous people — and if you’re with me, add your name to my petition now.
It’s just common sense: We need universal background checks to keep guns out of the hands of violent, dangerous people and red flag laws to remove weapons from people who pose a threat to themselves or others.
As your next Governor, those are solutions I will advocate for and work to implement — but it’s going to take all of us working together. We need Republican legislators to set partisanship aside and get on board with common sense gun violence prevention. Or we need new legislators. Please, take just a moment on today’s solemn anniversary to add your name to my petition supporting necessary gun safety policies >>>
In solidarity,
Josh Stein
