Special interview with history teacher Ted Lamb celebrating Black History Month will air Friday, Feb. 16, at 10 a.m. on HHOMA’s website and Facebook
CHARLESTON, WV — The Herbert Henderson Office of Minority Affairs (HHOMA) is pleased to announce a special interview in celebration of Black History Month.
Executive Director Jill Upson will host a conversation with esteemed history teacher, Ted Lamb, highlighting the importance of teaching Black history in the classroom.
The interview will be available for viewing online atwww.minorityaffairs.wv.gov ([link removed]) or on HHOMA's Facebook page ([link removed]) .
"We are thrilled to host history teacher, Ted Lamb, for this special interview as part of our Black History Month celebrations," Jill Upson said. "His perspective on teaching Black history in the classroom will undoubtedly inspire and educate our viewers, fostering a deeper understanding of the challenges and triumphs within the Black community."
The interview highlights Lamb's experiences teaching Black history, exploring effective strategies, challenges faced, and the significance of this subject matter in shaping a more inclusive and informed society.
Lamb is a graduate of Oklahoma Christian University of Science and Arts, where he obtained his bachelor's degree in social studies education. He continued his academic pursuits at Bowling Green State University, earning a master's degree. With more than 25 years of experience in public education, Lamb has taught students across various age groups, from pre-K to adult learners, on three continents.
Additionally, Lamb served as a school board representative in his hometown of Portsmouth, completing two terms in office. Married for 28 years, he is a proud parent of two grown children.
