DISASTER TAX RELIEF PASSES THE HOUSE

Many families and businesses in the Florida Heartland are still struggling from the devastation caused by hurricanes Ian and Nicole.

An initiative I have strongly supported, the Federal Disaster Tax Relief Act, passed the House last week as part of the larger bipartisan Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act. This critical bill would provide vital tax relief for disaster-related losses to help those impacted get back on their feet. I urge the Senate to act quickly to get this relief in the hands of Americans who need it. Click here to learn more.

LNG STRENGTHENS OUR ECONOMY AND ENERGY SECURITY

President Biden's Department of Energy (DOE) halted the approval process for new liquified natural gas (LNG) exports despite the consequences of disrupting this fundamental energy source. This policy decision appeases extreme climate activists at the expense of American economic prosperity and the security of our allies.

That's why I joined my colleagues to call on President Biden to reverse the DOE's pause of LNG exports to keep clean-burning energy affordable, maintain our energy leadership on the world stage and reduce European reliance on adversarial energy from Russia.

BOLSTERING HUMAN TRAFFICKING DETECTION

Human trafficking is a modern-day form of slavery. Florida tragically ranks third in the nation for reported human trafficking cases. We must adopt a whole-of-government approach to crack down on this deplorable behavior.

That's why I voted for H.R. 443, the Enhancing Detection of Human Trafficking Act, to be proactively vigilant by training Department of Labor employees to recognize instances of human trafficking and refer these cases to law enforcement agencies. It passed the House and awaits Senate action.
