VIDEO OF THE DAY: Fed-up Fox News host calls out Mike Johnson, Republicans on air
Even Fox News' Steve Doocy has had it with the House GOP's relentless obstructionism on behalf of Donald Trump and his twisted, incoherent, and virulently evil agenda.

House Republicans impeach Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas
Well, they finally got their stupid, meaningless trophy. House Republicans, struggling to produce any kind of tangible results during the 13 months they've held control of the chamber, have finally succeeded in impeaching Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas over trumped-up show-trial allegations that he intentionally violated federal immigration laws and blocked congressional oversight of the DHS. Of course, this won't actually accomplish anything, since there's no way the impeachment will result in a conviction in the Senate, so the GOP have once again succeeded in wasting taxpayer dollars and congressional time so they have something to yell about on TV. "History will not look kindly on House Republicans for their blatant act of unconstitutional partisanship that has targeted an honorable public servant in order to play petty political games," President Biden said.
Trump vows to push the world over the edge
Evergreen Collaborative: We’re running out of time to stop the climate crisis — but Donald Trump just vowed to “drill, baby, drill” and push the world into ecological catastrophe just so his Big Oil cronies can make a huge payday. Evergreen Collaborative is at the forefront of the fight to save the planet and put bold climate action at the top of America’s agenda. Can you chip in to make sure Trump’s dream never becomes our nightmare?
Senate-passed foreign aid bill entangled in Speaker Johnson's messy House GOP fight
The Senate succeeded in passing a bipartisan bill to provide billions of US taxpayer dollars for the war in Ukraine, Israel's military operations in Gaza, and the Taiwanese military. It also strips all funding for the UN's humanitarian mission in Gaza. But the bill's primary beneficiaries — US defense contractors — might need to wait before popping the champagne. Speaker Johnson has already refused to take up the so-called standalone bill, because it doesn't include anything related to the border, unlike the previous bill, which DID include huge border concessions but ran afoul of Trump's plans to kick and scream about a lawless "invasion" only he can supposedly fix. Democrats are weighing trying to sneak the bill through with a procedural ploy that would allow them to force a vote, but this would require cooperation from at least some Republicans, and well, good luck with THAT. All this to say is once again, the GOP isn't allowing Congress to pass any bills on the off chance that it might help President Biden in the upcoming election.
"Unproven Allegations": UK's Channel 4 slams Israel's accusations against UNRWA
UK's Channel 4 News published a report assessing the Israeli government's "intel dossier" distributed to UNRWA donor nations that they used to justify allegations that 12 of the 13,000+ staffers of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency aided Hamas during the Oct. 7 terror attacks and found it "contains no evidence to support Israel's explosive claims." "Why did the donors including the UK withdraw funding on such flimsy unproven allegations before an investigation?" asked Channel 4 journalist Lindsey Hilsum. The United States, the UK, and 23 other donor nations all froze funding to the UNRWA based on this "intel dossier," cutting off humanitarian lifelines to millions of Palestinian civilians suffering under the IDF's unceasing and indiscriminate bombardment. Since the start of the war, Israel has bombed 263 UNRWA facilities, killing 152 of its aid workers.
My dad was a slave, claims Kentucky Republican at NAACP
Hooooooooooooo boy. While pushing for a bill to end college diversity initiatives, Republican state Rep. Jennifer Decker told a room that far from her family owning slaves, her father — who was born in 1933 — was a slave himself! When reporters got wind of this and began prying, Decker tried to brush the questions off as "irrelevant" before eventually admitting that he had actually been born into poverty but she "probably overstated" his plight. "Was I saying that it was kidnapping and abuse the same as the slaves? No." There's a lot of shamelessness in the Republican Party, but telling a room full of Black people that your dad was a slave to justify your efforts to cut young Black youths off from opportunities you've always been afforded really takes the cake.
Cop in Times Square migrant melee previously involved in brutality case
Well, well, well. Wouldn't you know it? NYPD officer Lt. Ben Kurian, the cop who sparked a tussle by slamming young migrant Yohenry Brito into the wall on the cooked-up grounds of "refusing a lawful order," was previously involved in a brutality incident where he choked an off-duty cop with his baton in the man's own home. The city paid out a staggering $5 million in a settlement to the brutalized victim. But far from being punished for the violence and the costly fine, Kurian was promoted a year later, and has been promoted again since.

Florida school asks parents for permission to have book by an African American author read to students
The appalling and absurd results of Ron DeSantis' "Don't Say Gay" law are making themselves painfully clear, as parents were shocked to find that their school district sent home permission slips for their kids to be read...a book by a Black person. Unfortunately, this is exactly what DeSantis and his white supremacist, Christian extremist cronies intended all along — a chilling effect where anything that could even remotely conflict with their lily white worldview is treated with such suspicion and contempt that it becomes difficult to engage with at all.
Media spread false reports Houston megachurch shooter was a trans woman, furthering moral panic
Both right-wing and mainstream news agencies picked up a false police narrative blaming a trans woman for the shooting at Joel Osteen's Lakewood Church over the weekend. MSNBC and Fox News both reported that the shooter was trans after police reports indicated that the suspect apparently used both male and female names; however, it turned out that the assailant — who had a long history of mental health issues but still managed to legally acquire an AR-15 style assault rifle — used multiple names as part of her criminal history of forgery. These kinds of bogus narratives, relentlessly amplified by right-wing propagandists like Chaya Raichik (aka "LibsofTikTok"), help fuel anti-trans legislative crusades and the promotion of dangerous, hateful conspiracy theories against society's most marginalized members.
FDA’s plan to ban toxic hair relaxer chemical called too little, too late
The FDA is scheduled to finally unveil a proposal to ban the use of incredibly toxic formaldehyde in hair-straightening products — some TWELVE YEARS after the chemical was classified as a carcinogen. All this time, companies have been selling their dangerous hair products, which are marketed to and used by Black women, knowing that they cause cancer and are slowly killing their users. It once again boggles the mind why corporate America is allowed to so freely poison people for so long, and the lack of urgency around the deaths of Black women is once again a reminder of how deeply white supremacy is embedded in our society.
