As we start the new 2024 legislative session, I thought it would be a good idea to put a few things on your radar as the DFL Trifecta ramps up their progressive and catastrophic policy ideas for our state.

Turning Minnesota into a Sanctuary State – As if completely oblivious to the chaos unfolding at our Nation’s Southern border, Senator Omar Fateh and Representative Sandra Feist have drafted legislation that would turn Minnesota into California, ignoring federal and state law when it comes to reporting criminal aliens. Already we are hearing about busses of criminal migrants showing up in our state, this is clearly a move meant to demoralize our nation and bolster democrat electoral prospects. They have done this without giving any thought to the displacement this causes to our citizens who are already vulnerable, and will further overwhelm our state’s safety net as we face a structural deficit. Assisted Suicide – Further promoting their culture of death, Democrats have wasted no time pushing for assisted suicide. Over the years there have been many attempts to pass assisted suicide legislation. It has been given different names. In an attempt to mislead the public, it is now called “end of life care”. The result is the same; legalizing assisted suicide and legislating who is worthy of life. Comparisons to other countries are legitimate, namely Canada. These laws will open doors to previous versions of these bills that may go even further, using metrics like depression, quality of life and usefulness to society for ending ones’ life. Who then will make decisions on what life is valuable, and what life should be ended?

Semi-Automatic Weapons Ban – It didn’t take long for the Democrats to double down on their gun control agenda from last year, with their administrative red flag laws. Now they are targeting several popular models of rifle and handguns, all semi-automatic, with a complete ban, including several models of shotguns. Why are they so intent on turning law abiding citizens who exercise their constitutional right to bears arms as criminals? A special alert would also be, please be mindful of upcoming Public Water Standards that may be subject to change. There is some legislation pending that may greatly affect private land usage and what qualifies as public waters. My concern is this will be a land grab by decree by anything deemed "public water".
