Let us Count the Ways

Dear Friend –
Why does Orbis love you? Let's count the ways!
1. Because you change lives.

Meet Tushig, a bright young boy from Mongolia, who was born with severe retinal problems. Tushig had deteriorating vision from ptosis (drooping eyelid) and amblyopia (lazy eye). In the years leading up to the treatment, Tushig coped surprisingly well with his ptosis by tilting his head backward and raising his eyebrows so he could see. The seven-year-old Lego fan didn’t let his vision impairment stop him. He was often seen running, playing soccer, or even riding his bike. But he needed surgery as the risk of losing his sight increased.
Thankfully, because of supporters like you, the family was introduced to a wonderful pediatric surgeon, Dr. Battsetseg, at a partner hospital in Ulaanbaatar. After surgery, Tushig’s working eye has become more visible, and his appearance had brightened. “I became handsome,” said Tushig with a smile.
Tushig’s sight has been saved, and he can follow his dream of becoming a video game developer. He can also look forward to a future of playing chess and soccer without the threat of his sight being lost permanently.

2. Because you ensure that the Flying Eye Hospital reaches people like Rhoda.

For three years, Rhoda struggled with a blinding cataract. With cloudy vision, she couldn’t read very well and was unable to make a living. Rhoda made an appointment at a local eye clinic for a screening and received her cataract diagnosis. However, the surgery was expensive, and Rhoda had no means of affording it.
Things started to look up for Rhoda when she was referred for screening at our partner hospital in Lusaka and was given some amazing news! The Orbis Flying Eye Hospital was in town for a three-week project.
Rhoda was selected to have her cataract removed at no cost to her… all thanks to generous contributions from people like you, Friend
.
Had it not been for the Orbis community, Rhoda would still be struggling – facing an uncertain future. Now, with clear vision, she can provide for her family and is once again thriving with healthy sight.
Help more people like Rhoda receive the care they need with a generous gift today. ([link removed])
3. Because you help provide top quality training to eye professionals in underserved areas.

You and every Volunteer Faculty member make it possible for ophthalmologists, nurses, and other eye health professionals in communities around the world to be trained in the latest techniques and innovations.
In addition to in-person training, your support of Cybersight ensures we can reach even more people through online ophthalmic training, as well as remote mentoring, simulation training, and access to artificial intelligence to reach even more people. Your support helps us push the boundaries of technology and innovation, so we can lead the way in eye care.
We know you share a vision of a world where people live free from preventable blindness and vision impairment and everyone has access to the eye care they need to thrive. Please support that vision by making your gift today. ([link removed])
I hope you take a moment this Valentine’s Day to appreciate the difference you make with Orbis every day. Thank you for your support of healthy vision around the world.
Sincerely,
Team Orbis
