| If anything was more unpredictable than the Chiefs game, it was the Senate in overtime. A Sunday in session is rare for the upper chamber, but a Sunday session on the biggest football day of the year? That's unheard of. And while Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) promised to wheel in TVs and stacks of pizzas, most Americans probably wished they'd stayed home and done nothing once they heard the Democrats' playbook: an end-run on Ukraine funding - without any border reforms. |

| Budget Office's 10-Year Forecast: Historic Deficits, Record Debt, Higher Taxes |

| America's fiscal future is gloomy, according to the 10-year forecast released Wednesday by the economic meteorologists (accountants, really) at the Congressional Budget Office (CBO). The CBO projected that by 2034 the U.S. federal government will run a $2.6 trillion deficit, equivalent to 6.1% of GDP, while public-held debt would nearly double from $26 trillion to $48 trillion, reaching a record 116% of GDP. These numbers are "mind boggling" and "absolutely astounding," said Heritage Foundation research fellow Jeffrey Griffith on "Washington Watch." |

| Country music legend and patriot par excellence Toby Keith has gone on to meet his Maker. The Oklahoma-born singer passed away Monday night last week at the age of 62, after a years-long battle with stomach cancer. Days before he passed away, Keith shared in an interview that his Christian faith sustained him throughout his experience with cancer. "You have to have your faith," he said. "Thank God that I got it too. You take it for granted on days that things are good, and you lean on it when days are bad. It's taught me to lean on it a little more every day." |

| According to its website, the mission of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) "is to enhance the health and well-being of all Americans, by providing for effective health and human services and by fostering sound, sustained advances in the sciences underlying medicine, public health, and social services." Yet HHS has approved numerous grants for transgenderism, which many experts do not consider "effective," "sound," or positively impacting the "health and well-being" of any American. |

| In our crumbling society, we must stand for the things God cherishes - the dignity and sanctity of life, the beauty of natural marriage, the well-being of family life, and the foundational right of religious liberty. This does not mean we cannot have hobbies, cook fabulous meals, have family game nights, or, for that matter, watch the Super Bowl. But bearing in mind that these things bring no enduring peace and purpose helps us enjoy them without seeing them as ends in themselves, as substitutes for the things that truly matter. |
