John,

Last week, Bernie called in the CEOs of Big Pharma companies to face
questions in front of the Senate HELP committee about sky-high prices for
life-saving medications, corporate stock buybacks and record corporate
profits.

[ [link removed] ]Tweet from Bernie Sanders: The CEOs talked a lot about how much it costs to
develop a new drug. But what they did not want to talk about is that 14 major
pharmaceutical companies spent $87B more on stock buybacks and dividends over a
recent 10-year period than what they spent on research & development.

It’s no surprise: Big Pharma defended putting profits ahead of people. But
healthcare in America should be about health, not massive corporate
profits and CEO bonuses. Healthcare should be about saving lives, not
enriching shareholders with stock buybacks. That’s why we need Bernie’s
Medicare for All bill.

[ [link removed] ]Add your name: We need Medicare for All in America! It’s time for
Bernie’s universal, guaranteed, free at the point of service health care
system.

Not only are we being ripped off by giant pharma corporations, with
millions bankrupted, but people’s lives are being put at risk so Big
Pharma execs can buy another yacht. It’s sick.

During the hearing, Bernie broke down just one example of Big Pharma’s
greed — jacking up the price of a drug that helps prevents strokes so that
CEOs can continue raking in big bonuses and record profits:

[ [link removed] ]Tweet from Bernie Sanders: Eliquis, a medicine that helps prevent strokes,
costs $7,100/year in the U.S. vs. $900/year in Canada. Today, the CEO of the
company that makes this lifesaving drug refused to commit to lowering its price
in the U.S. UNACCEPTABLE. To me and the American people

This is why anything short of Medicare for All won’t work. Health
insurance companies, Big Pharma, and hospital conglomerates will find ways
to profit unless we have single payer healthcare.

Healthcare is a human right, not something that should be denied to people
without the money to afford medication, a doctor visit, surgery,
chemotherapy, mental health treatment, or any other kind of care.

Bernie’s Medicare for All bill is the answer to ensuring everyone has the
health care they need. It’s the answer to the greed-driven insurance and
pharma companies who care about profits more than patients.

bill and the fight to continue building support for HEALTHCARE FOR
EVERYONE in 2024.

When we organize, we win.
