| Egale Canada Promises Legal Action in Response to Alberta’s Attack on 2SLGBTQI People |
|
|
| Alberta Premier Danielle Smith has announced the United Conservative government’s plan for a sweeping attack on 2SLGBTQI people in Alberta. The policy measures announced are completely unprecedented in Canada. They go against every expert opinion, including medical professionals. If implemented, the policies would force medical and education professionals to take actions that they know will cause harm and suffering to the youth in their care. Egale Canada and Skipping Stone Foundation have come together to jointly condemn, in the strongest possible terms, the policy measures announced by Premier Smith. This is a direct and unprecedented attack on 2SLGBTQI Canadians, and trans and gender diverse youth in particular. If the Alberta government moves ahead to implement these policies, Egale and Skipping Stone will bring legal action to protect our communities. |
